Here is a great opportunity to raise money for a local charity – and get fit at the same time – by taking part in the Michael Sobell Hospice Charity’s (MSHC) annual Ladies in the Night Walk, taking place on Friday 20th September.

The event, now in its ninth year, features two different routes – one of 5.5 miles and the other a longer route of 10 miles.

Both walks start and finish on the Michael Sobell Hospice site at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, and, after listening to feedback from last year’s event, the walk has been reversed, so participants will start their challenge going down Ducks Hill Road instead of walking uphill.

There is an early bird entry fee of £15 for people who sign up by Monday 12th August, while teams of 10 or more pay an entry of £12 per person, if all team members are entered by the 12th. Children under 12 can take part for just £5, (anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult).

Once the early bird deadline has expired, entry will cost £20 for everyone and those signing up on the night will pay £30 on-the-door.

Event planner and MSHC spokesperson, Ophelia Chambers-Henry, said: “This has been a very difficult year in fundraising for the charity. However, we intend to put on a great show for those supporting the ninth Ladies in the Night Walk and who are walking in memory of a loved one.

“We have reversed the route, which means Ducks Hill is at the beginning of the walk and can assure every walker, all MSHC charity shops will be open for walker ‘pit-stops’ during their challenge, along with St Thomas More RC Church, Field End Road, and Allsop Durn Solicitors, our event sponsors.”

Ophelia added: “Michael Sobell Hospice Charity really needs everyone’s support even more this year, so we can continue to fund and maintain our day-care Hospice provision, along with achieving our biggest goal which is to refurbish and re-open the Hospice in-patient unit. We need a massive show on the streets, so let’s ‘strut our stuff’ in support of Michael Sobell Hospice and end-of-life care. Hope to see you all on the night!”
